Check out this hot, new Bloomington-based big band and the debut of their new CD entitled “Thought and Memory.” This band features a blend of artful original compositions, as well as my arrangements of music by Bon Iver, Woody Shaw and Charles Mingus.

Keith Karns is an Alaskan born trumpet player, composer and bandleader. Keith’s quartet and big band are an up and coming presence across the Midwest and its members are some of the most talented young musicians in the country. Keith has been recognized as a trumpeter and composer as a finalist in the 2007 National Trumpet Competition, 2010 OWL Studios Emerging Jazz Artist Competition, and the 2012 New York First Music Competition.
